Welcome Message

Greetings from Naveen Cabral, the Primary music teacher for Grades 4 and 5. I have also been assigned the responsibility of a Performance Co-ordinator in the Primary, under which I do run the Primary Musical and the Festival of Choirs. I am very excited to be entering my 13th year in teaching, 11 of which have been with the best of PYP schools. I play the guitar, recorder, keyboard/piano, xylophones and a few other instruments but my forte lies in singing. In addition to my strong PYP experience, I recently completed my Grade 8 Vocals in Trinity - Rock and Pop. I have also completed various other music certifications through the Trinity College of Music. I have been trained by quite a few professionals in different instruments and musical technique. In addition to the Music Together certification that I have, I have attended quite a few IB workshops (PYP). I do perform as a musician in my spare time, as a vent to my outburst of passion and love for music.

I believe my education and degree in my career has mainly been my teaching experience, which has helped me acquire the best from my students as we worked together to create great music and events. My aim will always be to help the students acquire musical skills and knowledge that will help them improve as an overall personality towards a better future for our world.

Primary Musical

Greetings from the Primary Music Department!

Now that school is back in session, we excitedly announce that it's time to start thinking about the Primary Musical! Here are some important things you need to know in order to get involved:

a) The Primary Musical will run through the entire academic year with the final performances being held on May 10th and 11th, 2018.

b) The Primary Musical will be conducted along with the ECAs, which includes a break in January 2018. Because it is a year long activity, the procedure for registering for the Primary Musical will be different and ONE time.

c) Rehearsals will be held each Thursday, and will start with the other ECAs in September.

d)  When we resume in Feb'18 along with the ECAs, we may need an additional day in the week other than Thursdays, which would mean rehearsals twice a week from then.

e) While we would like to accept every child into the musical, we must limit it to a total of 90 students from Grades 3, 4 and 5. That is why we will follow an audition process.  To enlist for the audition process, you need to fill the form at this link. Please note that we have many other musical activities offered as part of the ECAs for you to consider as well.

f) We will NOT audition any child who has not filled in this audition form.

g) The decision of the Music Department in the selection process for auditions is FINAL. If there is any reason for someone to request for feedback on why a student has not made it through, we will give the feedback to the student alone.

h) The Audition form will close on Friday 18th August, 9 am. The material for the auditions will be sent out via the email addresses submitted on the audition form on Friday before end of school day.

i) There will be a nominal fees of Rs. 2500/- charged per student for the entire duration of the activity and this will be collected in the form of a cheque addressed to the school.

j) The auditions will be conducted on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of August and we will communicate the venue and timings for the auditions to the same email addresses we have received on the form.

Please feel free to contact any of the Primary music teachers for clarifications needed on any of the above information.
